1. Bassett Media and Your Privacy
Bassett Media Group Inc. ("Bassett Media") is committed to protecting your privacy and has implemented policies and procedures to ensure that your personal information is handled securely and in accordance with applicable privacy law, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA").
As part of our responsible information handling practices, Basset Media has developed this Privacy Statement in order to keep you informed of the ways in which we collect, use and disclose personal information. This Privacy Statement may be revised from time to time to reflect our evolving business and the nature of the products and services we offer to you. To ensure that you are aware of our current privacy practices, we recommend that you review this statement periodically. Should you choose to provide us with your personal information, we will refer you to this Privacy Statement at the time your information is collected, whether in writing, over the telephone or online. You will be deemed to have agreed with the terms and conditions contained in this statement upon providing us with your personal information.
This Privacy Statement applies in connection with various Bassett Media-owned companies and is also accessible from their websites.
While Bassett Media and our owned or affiliated sites may provide links to third party websites, we accept no liability for their treatment of your personal information and their activities are governed by separate and independent privacy policies. Any information you choose to provide to these third parties is not administered by this Privacy Statement, nor is it the responsibility of Bassett Media.
2. Personal Information
The term "personal information" refers to any information that specifically identifies you as an individual and includes details such as your name, e-mail and mailing addresses, age, as well your personal preferences, views and opinions if they can be linked to you. Bassett Media needs to collect certain types of personal information from you in order to provide you with products and services that you request or as otherwise described in this Privacy Statement. Should you decline to provide such information, Bassett Media may not be able to provide you with certain products or services.
Bassett Media may also use "non-identifiable information" in order to compile broad demographic and website usage information about our consumers in general that cannot or will not be used to identify you personally. This non-identifiable information is in the form of anonymous, aggregate data gleaned from your computer’s web browser when you visit us online. Such information includes your Internet address, the address of the website you are coming from, the amount of time you spend visiting our website, the pages visited, the operating system and web browser software you use, and, if you link to us through a search engine, the keywords you use to find our website. The logs do not record personal information, can be accessed only by Bassett Media, and are used solely to track visits to our site, improve its content and layout and to achieve a better understanding of our users in general. Bassett Media never attempts to tie this information to particular individuals visiting our websites.
3. Collection and Use of Personal Information
Bassett Media collects, uses and discloses certain types of personal and non-identifiable information in order to process consumer requests and offer various online services. The personal information we collect will only be used with your consent and only for the purposes set forth in this Privacy Statement, as required to carry out these activities. Consumer-requested products and/or services include:
Paid Subscriptions
When you sign up to subscribe for one of our publications, we only collect basic ordering information, including your name and shipping address, telephone number and e-mail address, and credit card information. Bassett Media uses third party payment processors (i.e., PayPal) for the sole purpose of completing your subscription transaction. Any third party used for this purpose is required to provide a level of privacy protection comparable to that described in this Privacy Statement and may only use your personal information for the specific purpose of processing your subscription payment.
Free Digital Magazines
When you view one of our free online digital magazines, we do not collect any personal information about you unless you choose to provide it to us voluntarily. We may collect non-identifiable information (as described above) through our servers when you view our web pages, but none of this information will be used to identify you personally.
Please be assured that Bassett Media will only collect information that is necessary for the purposes which have been identified to you and that we will obtain your consent for any additional uses of your personal information.
We are aware that our web sites may be accessed by children under the age of 13. While we do not require personal information from children in order for them to obtain access to or view the content of many Bassett Media-owned or affiliated websites, certain personal information is required in connection with contest enrollment and magazine/newsletter subscription. Children under the age of 18 are not eligible to subscribe to our paid subscriptions, given that our payment processors have policies in place that prohibit the use of their services by minors. If Bassett Media seeks to collect personal information from children under 13 in order to enroll the child in a contest or other promotional activity, we will ask for personal information in order to verify the participant's age, and will seek the consent of the parent or guardian before the child is enrolled in any of our promotional programs. We may also require that the child's parent or guardian provide personal information in order to verify the parent or guardian's consent.
4. Marketing and Promotional Purposes
From time to time, Bassett Media may use personal information with which you have provided us to contact you in order to inform you of additional consumer offerings or developments, to better identify products and services that may be of interest to you, or for other marketing and promotional purposes, for example, to offer you a subscription to our free newsletters or to provide you with an opportunity to enroll in a contest. Should you choose not to provide your consent to these activities, Bassett Media will refrain from using your information in this manner. You will not receive marketing or promotional information from us unless it has been requested by you and you may at any time indicate that you do not wish to receive such information.
Bassett Media will not, distribute, rent or sell any personally identifiable information to third parties without your express consent, or otherwise in accordance with this Privacy Statement.
5. Disclosure of Personal Information
Our employees are familiar with the contents of this Privacy Statement and are informed about our policies and procedures for protecting personal information. Your personal information is only disclosed to those within the Bassett Media-owned or affiliated companies with a need to know, which individuals are held accountable for maintaining the confidentiality of all personal information to which they have access.

Any such third parties will only use your personal information to provide you with the products and services you have requested through Bassett Media and will be given only the information necessary for carrying out their services in this regard.
